How does Sopra Steria’s membership in Positive AI align with your vision of AI industrialization and responsible governance?
Yves Nicolas : Sopra Steria’s membership in Positive AI perfectly aligns with our vision of sustainable AI, built on three key dimensions: ethical, environmental, and frugal. By joining Positive AI, we reaffirm our commitment to developing AI systems that are fair, transparent, and aligned with human values, while also reducing AI’s ecological footprint and designing optimized, energy-efficient models. This approach is supported by our participation in global initiatives such as the AI Pact and the Confiance AI program, as well as our contribution to working groups like Boavizta, which helps assess the environmental impact of organizations’ digital activities.

What major challenges do you identify in scaling responsible AI?
Yves Nicolas : There are several key challenges in scaling responsible AI. First and foremost, it is essential to ensure the transparency and fairness of AI systems while respecting individuals’ fundamental rights. Transparency plays a crucial role in building trust, while fairness helps mitigate risks of discrimination. Additionally, protecting privacy remains a significant concern. At Sopra Steria UK, we have established an AI governance committee that evaluates every project to limit bias and ensure a responsible approach. Furthermore, managing the energy impact of AI solutions is imperative to ensure their long-term sustainability.
What are Sopra Steria’s major milestones for 2025 in terms of responsible AI?
Yves Nicolas : For 2025, we have several key initiatives to strengthen our commitment to responsible AI. One of our primary goals is to continue developing ethical, eco-responsible, and frugal AI. For instance, we have created EcoMindAI, an innovative tool that enables us to predict and assess every stage of an AI project to maximize its positive impact, both environmentally and socially. We also plan to publish studies and participate in various events to share our progress and best practices in responsible AI. Finally, our internal AI program will continue training multidisciplinary teams to integrate AI into concrete projects while adhering to principles of ethics, sustainability, and frugality.
