Webinar Abstract
Our Speaker: Bertrand Cassar from Groupe La Poste will explore the following topic:
The EU AI Act: Preparing for Compliance Through Internal Governance and Trusted AI
- The EU Artificial Intelligence Act (RIA), effective as of August 1, 2024, introduces a harmonized legal framework across the European Union to regulate the development and use of AI.
- Based on a risk-based approach, the regulation categorizes AI systems (unacceptable, high-risk, limited-risk, minimal-risk) and defines proportionate obligations regarding transparency, safety, and fundamental rights.
- To ensure compliance, organizations must identify impacted AI systems, assess their risk level, implement appropriate governance mechanisms, and train stakeholders on regulatory requirements.
- In anticipation of these obligations, Groupe La Poste has launched several initiatives rooted in ethical and trusted AI, aimed at developing an internal governance framework to support a smooth transition toward compliance.
- Bertrand Cassar holds a PhD in Law with a focus on digital technologies and data governance. He currently serves as Strategic Data Valorization Director at Groupe La Poste and is also Vice President for Trusted AI at Hub FranceIA.
- He contributes as a “France 2030 Digital Expert” within the Prime Minister’s Secretariat for Investment and co-directs university degrees on Digital Law and Data/AI Law at Université Paris 1 – Panthéon-Sorbonne.
