Our Speaker: Patrick Bezombes will explore the following topic:
Update on AI Standardization in Support of the AI Act
- Overview of the AI standardization requests from the European Commission and the ongoing standardization activities at both international and European levels.
- Discussion on the content, timeline, and challenges of European AI standards.
- Patrick Bezombes is a Général Engineer of Armament (2S) and an active member of the military reserve, advising the French Ministry of Armed Forces on AI standardization in defense.
- He graduated from École Nationale Supérieure de Techniques Avancées (ENSTA ParisTech), specializing in perception systems and robotics.
- In 2018, as Deputy Director of the French Joint Forces Doctrine Center, he published the Concept of AI Utilization in Defense and initiated the creation of the Defense Ethics Committee.
- He is the Chair of the AI Standardization Committee at Afnor, Vice-Chair of CEN-CENELEC/JTC 21 (responsible for European harmonized AI standards), and Head of the French delegation to ISO-IEC/SC 42 on AI.
- Additionally, he is the Chair of CEN-CENELEC/JTC 25/WG 2 on “Dataspaces” and leads a European working group (CEN Workshop) on “Trusted Data Transactions”, supporting the European Data Act and Data Governance Act.
